Educational Background
As a licensed clinical social worker, I have a Bachelors of Applied Arts and Sciences in Rehabilitation from the University of North Texas. My rehabilitation background consisted of teaching and vocational rehabilitation of multiply disabled and blind/visually impaired clients.
I have a Masters of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin. At UT, I specialized in Gerontology. I worked as a Gerontologist for three years providing long-term therapy, case management, and advocacy for my elderly clients and their families.
Therapy Experience
I began working at an Employee Assistance Program in 1989. An EAP offers short-term psychotherapy as well as referral to longer term therapy, if needed, for clients and their household members. As an EAP therapist and consultant, I have gained valuable experience and education in the areas of:
- Brief Solution-focused therapy
- Working with a variety of clients
- Chemical dependency
- Workplace issues
In September 2004, I began a private practice. I continue to provide EAP services in addition to longer-term therapy which is usually covered by insurance benefits.
